INSTALLING 3D PARTY CONTENT
Without getting deep into how to unzip with either 7-Zip or WinZIP,
here are the basic guidelines for installing non-Daz products for use with Daz
Studio 4 (including Poser format products).
Over
the years, Daz has changed the default location for saving 3D content
for Daz Studio 4.x and you need to know which one or more locations are
used by your installation of DS.
- Open up the preferences for
Daz Studio. In the popup, click the Content tab and then click on
the Content Directory Manager button.
For Daz Studio formats (native), expand the DAZ Studio Formats line by clicking the plus sign (+) on the left.
For Poser formats (ie Runtime), expand the Poser Formats line by clicking the plus sign (+) on the left.
- Unzip the My Daz 3D Library into your user accessible folder.
Be sure to use recursive or maintain folder structures.
For Windows it is usually located in Users\Public\Public Documents\
- If the Zip just shows data, people, props, etc.. and not My Daz 3D Library,
then unzip the contents into the My Daz 3D Library folder.
- In Daz Studio, the contents will be under Daz Studio Formats in Content Library.
Be sure to quit and restart Daz Studio again, or right-click Refresh on the main folder in Content Library.
- Unzip the Runtime folders into your My Daz 3D Library
See above to locate.
- The Zip shows Geometries, Libraries, Textures, etc… and not Runtime,
then unzip the contents into the Runtime folder under My Daz 3D Library folder.
- In Daz Studio, the contents will be under Poser Formats in Content Library.
Be sure to quit and restart Daz Studio again, or right-click Refresh on the main folder in Content Library.
